jill + chris | miami beach wedding

Jill and Chris both had a very clear vision of their dream wedding.  They wanted an “Art Deco” inspired wedding.  They wanted it to be fun, simple, classy and filled with love from family and close friends.  When I met them, they were both studying for the Bar exam while living out of state.  Like many of my couples, Jill & Chris had limited time to plan their wedding.  We crammed several vendor appointments into the days that they were in Miami and later I had the pleasure of continuing the planning process with Jill’s mom, Gina.  Chris was involved in the planning process and it was truly special for me to witness his heartfelt involvement and how they both interacted and compromised in a loving fashion.  Truly a spectacular and loving couple!

When Jill and her mom first went to visit the Art Welcome Center in Miami Beach they came across St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church and fell in love with it immediately.  It was exactly what Jill and Chris were looking for and just minutes away from the venue. They booked it that same day and the planning journey officially started.

The Art Welcome Center in Miami Beach was the perfect venue.  It had just opened for weddings and events a few months before we started the planning process.  It provided everything we were looking for and even offered us the use of all of their Art Deco posters to hang on the walls as decoration.  The outdoor back area served as the perfect setting for a beautiful evening outdoor cocktail reception.

Food was very important to both Jill and Chris and who better than the Chef at Mena’s Catering to delight them and their guests with three delicious interactive food stations.  The level of service provided by Mena’s staff went above and beyond my expectations.  The Groom mentioned that he felt that he and his guests were treated like royalty! Several family tables were assigned waiters so that even their drinks were served on a silver platter (no pun intented).

Decoration was simple and yet elegant.  Jill does not like flowers so we had a beautiful brooch bouquet designed just for her by The Crystal Flower, truly an amazing and stunning keepsake for generations to come.  The centerpieces consisted of white hydrangeas with a simple bouquet of white ostrich feathers and silver willow.  Since their color scheme was navy, orange and silver we added a few mini orange callas to add a spec of color.  Nevot Flowers did an amazing job of creating these “Art Deco” inspired centerpieces with as less flowers as possible. The linens were navy blue and ontop rested beautiful glass silver beaded chargers and “Art Deco” inspired orange napkins. A beautiful and innovative fold provided by Gables Linens.  Each table was identified by a year in the life of Jill and Chris.  Accompanying the table number were pictures of Jill & Chris from that particular year. We used a combination of round and square tables and silver chiavari chairs. Up Lighting provided by DJ Connection was in a beautiful shade of blue with “Art Deco” inspired lighted graphics that marked the dance floor. A monogrammed gobo lit the back wall of the Bride and Groom’s table and served as their backdrop.

DJ Connection had the guests dancing all night long and the Bride and Groom dancing the night away.  The percussionist was upbeat and added to the fabulous music.  Guests were having such a great time that we had to extend the wedding for an additional hour and then some!

I want to thank all the vendors that made this fabulous wedding a reality! They are; Art Deco Welcome Center, Card Cottage, City of Miami Beach, Cristina Makeup, DJ Connection, Gables Linens, It’s A Party, Jess Hairstylist, Lisandro Perez Videographer, Mena Catering, Meilan Limousine, South Florida Parking, Todo Dulces and  Unique Design Studios (UDS) Photography.  I never close a blog without thanking my wonderful assistant Nikki who is truly God sent!

This blog would not be complete without a special mention to Gina, Jill’s mom.  It was such a pleasure to work with this special lady.  The love and admiration she has for her daughter and her now son Chris is truly admirable. It was my pleasure to work with Jill and Chris and their respective families.  Wishing them a lifetime of true love and happiness!
